چکیده

In this paper, we examine a retrodiction approach to handle the out-of-sequence measurement (OOSM) problem in active sonar, for both linear and nonlinear representations of target contact information. We find that the retrodiction approach performs well, even with multiple sensors and multi-lag out-of-sequence measurements. In addition, we examine the impact of the use of a ping-time reference for moving-platform sonar operations.

Integrated Detection and Tracking in Multistatic Sonar

An ongoing research effort at the NATO Undersea Research Centre (NURC) has included the development of multistatic sonar fusion and tracking technology for effective undersea surveillance. This paper summarizes the progress in this area, and identifies the sensor management tasks that are of current interest. In particular, we study the potential value-added of adaptive data thresholding based ...

Tracking Algorithms for Multistatic Sonar Systems

Activated reconnaissance systems based on target illumination are of high importance for surveillance tasks where targets are nonemitting. Multistatic configurations, where multiple illuminators andmultiple receivers are located separately, are of particular interest. The fusion of measurements is a prerequisite for extracting and maintaining target tracks. The inherent ambiguity of the data ma...

'simultaneous Localisation and Tracking' Onboard Auvs with Multistatic Sonar Data

Multistatic Sonar Systems (MSS) based on manned or stationary systems provides necessary performance for Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) surveillance operations. Sufficiently accurate sensor models are implemented in data fusion algorithms in order to exploit the added-value of the multiple aspects on the target. The logical follow-on is to use them to control the sensors, leading to an MSS based ...

Contact Fusion and Multi-Hypotheses Tracking for Low Frequency Active Sonar Data

Towed low frequency active sonar systems (LFAS) are used in Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) to detect submarines. LFAS systems are hampered by reverberation in shallow water environments because the interaction of sound with the sea bottom can lead to a large number of point-like sonar contacts resulting in a high false alarm rate. Reducing the false alarm rate under a non-decreasing probability o...

Multi-Hypothesis Sonar Tracking

This paper introduces a multi-hypothesis multistatic sonar tracker for undersea surveillance. Multistatic sonar increases the data rate and has the potential to improve surveillance capabilities, provided effective target tracking is performed. Our multihypothesis tracker includes features not generally found in other multi-hypothesis trackers. Data association is based on an efficient linear p...
